FEATURED EVENT: Barnes and Noble Book Fair December 7th – December 12th – Read more in our Library News!
Welcome back to our exciting world!
Roaring dinosaurs and exotic snakes and reptiles look like they’re about to escape from their pages; books revealing the mysteries of weather, natural disasters and our solar system stand waiting to be picked up by the eager hands of our young STA readers.
A few steps away the words and paintings of the world’s great artists stand ready to inspire our students with just a glimpse of their rich pages. And just a few rows away, our upper grade students can encounter young men marching off to war or surviving wilderness dangers, while young women struggle to survive in Europe during the Middle Ages or in China during the Cultural Revolution. And whether it’s Percy Jackson and his mythological creatures, or the boy or girl next door, the shelves now abound with books about coping with being an adolescent in America in the 21st century.
Our book collection has grown by about 200 volumes in this past year due to your support through the Barnes and Noble Book Fair and individual book donations. We remain committed to continuing to develop a library program which expands the STA book and media collection in order to:
- appeal to our students’ diverse reading interests
- support the K-8 curriculum
- provide resources for staff development
In addition, we will continue to work with the teachers to:
- sustain steady student book borrowing through both fixed and flexible scheduling
- collaborate with teachers on select unit research projects
- continue to selectively integrate technology as we did in the production of book review podcasts by grades 2, 3, and 4
You can help us achieve these goals by supporting our FIRST ANNUAL USED BOOK SALE. The sale will take place at the Parish Christmas Fair on Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Aquinas Center.
