Lunch Program

  1. Lunch Time!

Hot lunches are prepared onsite and served daily in our Aquinas Center cafeteria.

The Hot Lunch Program is open to all students.  We do not receive government assistance and we do not fund the cafeteria from tuition.  The lunch program must purchase food and pay its salaries and other bills from the income collected from lunch orders.  Our cafeteria staff does an excellent job providing a variety of quality, kid-friendly, portion appropriate lunches while staying with a budget.  An important part of the success of our hot lunch program is the “pre-order” system that allows us to only purchase and prepare exactly what is needed each day without any waste.  Families may pre-order every two weeks of the school year or may pre-order for the entire school year in advance and receive a significant discount.  Milk and bottled water are available each day for purchase in the cafteria.  Parents are encouraged to prepay milk for the year to take advantage of special savings.

Ordering hot lunches for your child can be done bi-weekly.  The “pre-order” system requires that families follow the schedule and submit menu orders on a timely basis so we have accurate lunch counts that keep costs down.  Lunch orders are due every two weeks no later than noon on Wednesday before the new two week cycle begins.  A monthly Lunch Menu Calendar is posted.  Use the link and download the form to fill out and submit with payment.  Be sure to write lunch order in memo line of your check.  Lunch payments must be paid in a separate check from any other payments you are making to the school.  Please note that late lunch orders cannot be accepted.

Volunteer opportunites are available in the cafeteria.  Parent volunteers help us keep down the cost of school lunch.  We need help with morning preparation, mealtime serving and especially for after lunch clean up.  Volunteering is a great way to support our school and provides a unique opportunity for parents to sneak a peek at their child’s day at school.  Students are very proud of their parents who volunteer in the cafeteria.

Emergency lunches are available “just in case”.  We do not want our students to go all day without eating, so if a student forgets their lunch from home, we will provide an emergency lunch.  Since there may not be enough extras to give the regular hot lunch as an emergency lunch, an alternative lunch will be chosen by the cafeteria supervisor.  The cost of an emergency lunch is $5.00.  A bill will be sent home and prompt payment is expected for all emergency lunches.  If a child forgets their lunch three times in a school year, on the fourth time, the parent will be called to bring in a lunch for their child.
